La Fête nationale française a été célébrée à Londres dans les jardins de la Résidence de l’Ambassadrice de France au Royaume Uni, Madame Helene Duchêne.

Le soleil brillait et l’ambiance rappelait « l’entente amicale », expression qui fait écho aux discours du Président Emmanuel Macron, du Roi Charles III et du Premier ministre Sir Keir Starmer, lors de la visite d’Etat de la semaine précédente.

Les paroles d’accueil de l’Ambassadrice faisaient état de la grande proximité entre les deux pays dans les situations internationales, la défense, l’économie et la culture. La culture était à l’honneur avec l’annonce du prêt de la Tapisserie de Bayeux (1077) au British Museum l’année prochaine et réciproquement celui à la France des trésors de Sutton Hoo (7e siècle).

La réponse fut donnée pour le gouvernement britannique par la Secrétaire d’Etat Sarah Sackman, KC, MP,  la ministre en charge des Juridictions et des Services Juridiques au sein du « Cabinet ». La Ministre répondait avec le même enthousiasme sur les relations entre la France et le Royaume-Uni, à la suite de la dernière Visite d’Etat du Président Emmanuel Macron aussi bien que de celle, précédente, en France du Roi Charles III.

Les hymnes nationaux et l’hymne européen ont conclu la partie officielle.

Plusieurs membres de l’Association des Juristes Franco-Britanniques étaient présents : la Présidente Lady Arden, le président de la section française  Frédéric Goldberg, l’ancien Président Ian Forrester, l’ancien fondateur et vice-président d’honneur Simon Horsington et des anciens vice-présidents et membres de la section anglaise et galloise, à l’image de Catherine Palmer ou encore Jean-François Le Gal. L'Association remercie sincèrement l’Ambassadrice et Lise Jaulin, la magistrate de liaison, ainsi que l’ensemble des services de l’Ambassade pour une célébration toujours aussi réussie et une coopération renforcée avec nos sections.

Des notes de jazz, les découvertes gastronomiques et œnologiques ont ponctué les retrouvailles de nos amis impliqués dans le dialogue franco-britanniques et ont permis de resserrer les liens tissés avec les partenaires institutionnels et individuels.

The French Fete Nationale in London was held in the garden of the Residence of the French Ambassador to the U.K., Madame Helene Duchêne.

The sun shone and the atmosphere was one of ‘entente d’amitié’, a phrase which was often heard in the speeches of President Macron, King Charles III and Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, during the State Visit the previous week.

The Ambassadrice’s welcome in her speech witnessed to the close relations between the two countries regarding international relations, defence, economic areas and culture. In Culture, the focus was the sending of the Bayeux Tapestry ( 1077) to the British Museum next year and the sending to France of the Sutton Hoo treasures (7th century).
The reply was given on behalf of the British government by Secretary of State Minister Sarah Sackman KC MP, Minister for Courts and Legal Services in the Cabinet. The Minister replied with like enthusiasm on the state of relations between France and the UK following the State Visit of President Macron and the previous State Visit of King Charles III.

The official section ended with the national anthems and the anthem of the European Union.

Several members of the Association des Juristes Franco-Britanniques / Franco-British Lawyers’ Society were attending, with president Lady Arden, president of the French Section Frédéric Goldberg, past president Judge Ian Forrester, Simon Horsington, founder and honorary vice-president, and also past vice-presidents and members from the English and Welsh section such as Catherine Palmer and Jean-François Le Gal. The Society sincerely thanks the Ambassador and Lise Jaulin, the liaison judge, as well as all the Embassy services for an ever-successful celebration and increased cooperation with all our various sections.

Jazz notes, gastronomic and oenological discoveries punctuated the reunion of our friends involved in the Franco-British dialogue and strengthen the links forged with institutional and individual partners.
